The Kingston Falls theatre marquee is showing a double bill, A BOY’S LIFE (working title for producer Steven Spielberg’s E.T. THE EXTRATERRESTRIAL) and WATCH THE SKIES (working title for Spielberg’s CLOSE ENCOUNTER’S OF THE THIRD KIND.) An evil Gremlin says “phone home” when he disconnects the Peltzer’s phone line, this is a reference to the famous line from Spielberg’s E.T. THE EXTRATERRESTRIAL. Cameo appearance by Steven Spielberg as the man at the inventor’s in the electric wheelchair with a t.v. monitor. Cameo appearance by composer Jerry Goldsmith at the inventor’s convention. Cameo appearance by Buggs Bunny cartoonist Chuck Jones, he is the man who looks at Billy’s cartoon in the bar. There is a Warner Bros. cartoon playing on the television.

Gremlins, those famous little green monsters that ravaged the small town of Kingston Falls in movie theatres in 1984. In the movie, a father brought his son home a present from a little oriental shop while on a work trip.

This present was a cute little Mogwai pet named Gizmo that came with three simple rules which were no water, no food after midnight and no bright light. All of these rules were broken.

When Gizmo had water accidentally spilled on him, a large number of mischievous little brothers appeared. Then after they got hold of food after midnight, they turned into terrible little creatures called Gremlins.

These gremlins proceeded to tear up everything in site and create some hilarious scenes as they unleashed havoc on the Norman Rockwell type town.
